In our efforts to become a bigger place with more respect and more of a possibility for future growth, there's a few rules we must consider. Most rules should be common sense, while others take some adjustment.
1 - "Don't be an asshole." It's a rule for life, too. If you can ever answer the question, "Was I an asshole to that person?" with "yes," then you have broken a rule. We can ban you for severe cases of this.
- No flaming.
- No flooding.
- Double posts are okay if the second post is a new idea that wouldn't necessarily be served by editing your previous post. Triple posts are hard to justify, though. More than that, I think you're talking to yourself.
2 - Explicit content is not allowed. I know, I know, I'm sorry. No porn threads! Try to keep the language PG-13ish if you can, says the man who included the word asshole in his first forum rule.
3 - No hotlinking images. Really, we just want you to use http://imgur.com whenever you want to post an image on the forums. This saves bandwidth for everyone and ensures your images will almost always be viewable.
4 - No posting direct links to illegal material, or posting illegal content. This is going to be hard for some, I know. Basically, no linking to scanlations, torrent downloads for items violating copyrights, that sort of thing. We openly acknowledge that piracy happens and at times it is the only option for some materials, but we must not endorse it officially if Bosskey is ever going to be recognized as a legitimate source of news and discussion. The debate continues, and we have articles in the pipeline for and against, but we shall not participate for as long as said participation is deemed inappropriate by the professional media community.
5 - Use of the terms "epic fail," "jelly?" and "u mad" provides a moderator free reign to edit said words into... anything. Use of the "one does not simply..." meme will be handled on a case by case basis. Exemptions from this rule include proper usages of the word epic and fail, separately, as in "Homer's epic, the Odyssey," or "Golly gee, I sure failed that exam."
(this is a joke)
