General Talk in Off-Topic

I look forward to the day when I too will buy an appliance. I will come over tonight and stare in awe at your bottom freezer refridgerator with ice maker. I only hope that when I'm finally able to tear myself away from it that I haven't perished from lack of fluid intake.

In other, totally unrelated news, I'm on youtube in digital form, playing Magic: the Gathering - Duels of the Planeswalkers 2013. The video can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KM_qQW7TxSw my fight starts at 18:38, and lasts for 20 minutes, for those who want to marvel at my strategizing. I scoured the available matches for half an hour last friday, trying to get a match with this guy, and there he was. So I was pretty happy with it, at least. (If any of you are actually genuinely interested, and don't know how the game is played, and care enough to learn the ropes so you know what's going on, I'll write down a basic outline of the rules, but I really don't want to until I know that it will make someone happy.)

I honestly don't mind it. We use a lot of things of out of the freezer, so it's all good. I make pasta sauces and freeze them, and I buy quantities of meat or chicken products to freeze and then thaw them out for dinners. SO it's all good. :)

We have a bottom freezer, as well as a full freezer in the attic for those long-term storings. So freezer under refrigerator for things that we need to get to on the go and one-at-a-time-things (ice cream, half-baked baguettes, etc.), and attic storage for slabs of meat and the like.

We have four freezers. Three in the basement for freezing stuff. One bottom freezer for freezing other stuff.

Wow- 4 freezers I've never known anyone who had 4 freezers. You take the WIN Tacko.

Don't forget: Where Tacko lives the entire outdoors is a freezer most of the year too :P

Congrats Steel! ^.^b

Congratulations, Steel. Benefits are awesome in any situation, but I'm a little stumped. What would "benefits after 2 months' employment" mean, in general? A raise? Insurance? Free lunch? Company car?

Generally in the US, benefits includes medical insurance, sometimes dental and eye insurance, and retirement planning/investment.

Some other minor perks are often packaged in, like I get a discount at a nearby gym with my employment.

We are so socialist up here that general (mostly emergency and other life-saving treatment) medical is covered by the government, and employers have at least since 2006 (that's when the most recent law on the subject went into effect, I don't know what was before then) been required by law to do retirement investments of a given size on behalf of their employees. Dental, however, is not covered in any form as long as you're above school age, and there is a luke-warm debate here on why teeth are not considered part of the body.

Higure that will be changing here next year also-we have a new Healthcare plan going into effect of a similar nature-they call it "Obamacare". We'll see how it works out. :)

Thanks guys!

Like Josh said, I'll get medical and dental as well as the option to pay into a retirement program. So I'll probably do that too. Hoping I might actually be able to stay at Nintendo part time for a while as additional income until I start to make more at the new place. But that's up to if they would actually like a part time employee, so I don't know if it's even an option. It would be cool to see some of my friends that still work there though, and who needs a weekend anyway?

I'm good. Not been very active lately, though. My conscience berates me for it, but it's not like I find it easy to do anything about it.

I have been playing quite a lot of Monster Hunter on my shiny WIIU. I've started reading quantum mechanics, because why not? I have, together with my girlfriend, gotten a place to rent, so I'm moving out from my parents' place in two weeks (I'm a little late, I know). Next week I'm taking her to a Muse concert, which reminds me, I need to brush up on those lyrics. Now I'm off to donate platelets. (I should've been there half an hour ago, but totally forgot. They called me and want me there in an hour and a half instead.)

Sintar: I'm jealous of your pool! Or, jealous of your chances to go to parties where there's a pool!

Higure: Congratulations! Is this the same girlfriend I met?

I just saw Pacific Rim, and it's definitely one of the best movies this summer. It's almost even inspired me to get back to writing for the site, so I can tell other people about how awesome it is. Everyone should see it! And, Imax 3D is totally worth it.

Thanks Josh-yes we have some friends with pools, we also have a beautiful Lake not too far that we go to also!
I heard Pacific Rim is good. It's not really a movie I am interested in, but I'm glad you enjoyed it. ^.^b
